NFL Picks: Week 16

Happy Holidays!!! This will not bee my usual blog, with respect to a more complete breakdown of each game. This week, I have been busy, like more of you, with the holiday season and family.  My normal breakdown will be back next week. Thanks for your understand.

Falcons v Bills

The Falcons bounced back in the winners circle last week against the Jets, I expect another victory today at home.  The goal now is the at least have two back to back winning seasons, which would be a first for the franchise.  Matt Ryan should be good today. My Pick: Falcons

Chiefs v Bengals

After a very tough week, and a tough game against the Chargers, the Bengals should be able to handle the Chiefs today at home. Marvin Lewis is keenly aware that momentum heading into the playoffs is critical for this organization. My Pick: Bengals

Raiders v Browns

The Raiders seem to have a bit of mojo back, of course this is the same team that every time we think they have turned the corner, another team shows up.  On the road today in Cleveland, the Raiders should be able to keep the Browns offense in check. My Pick: Raiders

Seahawks v Packers

The wheels have fallen off in Seattle, and after their performance last week in Pittsburgh, the Packers have to be thrilled to face the Hawks. This game should not even be close, as it appears the Seahawks have thrown in the towel on this season. My Pick: Packers

Texans v Dolphins

At 7-7, both of these teams are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Interesting to note that the Texans have won four straight against the Dolphins. I like Miami at home today, but only if they are able to control the clock, and minimize turnovers. They Dolphins have to limit the opportunities they allow the Texans offensively. My Pick: Dolphins

Ravens v  Steelers

Ever the rivalry game, today the Ravens can effectively send the Steelers packing with a win. Clearly after winning it all last season, the last thing the Steelers want to do is have a losing season. Ray Rice is having a great season for the Ravens and I expect him to have a big game again today. I highly doubt we’ll get and encore of Big Ben’s 500 yard performance last week, but in order to win the Steelers may need it. Look for Flacco to have success as well today, the Steeler defense has been anything but a steel curtain. My Pick: Ravens

Carolina v Giants

The Giants must keep Carolina’s running back’s in check today, and keep extensive pressure on Carolina’s Matt Moore. I like the Giants to handle business today, especially after dismantling the Redskins last week.  Manning, Jacobs & Co should be able to move the ball today with a consistent mix offensively. Carolina handles the Vikings last week, but I expect the Giants to ready. My Pick: Giants

Jaguars v Patriots

Tom Brady is nearing 4000 yards passing this season, and should easily eclipse that mark today against the Jags. One thing to keep an eye on is Brady’s overall play in the past month, he has not been nearly as efficient as we are used to.  The Patriots defense has to keep Jones-Drew in check today because a big game from him would really turn this game. My Pick: Patriots

Buccaneers v Saints

How will the Saints handle today’s game, I think pretty well after their 1st loss of the season. The are tons of rumors swirling around about the future of the Bucs coaching position, something a young team really does not need.  Drew Brees is such a competitor I highly doubt he allows the Saints to sleep through this one. My Pick: Saints

Rams v Cardinals

The Rams are awful, outside of Stephen Davis, and I highly doubt the Cardinals will sleep on them.  Of course, this is the NFL, and a few weeks ago the Cardinals did just that against the 49ers.  No way today, the Rams are not good. My Pick: Cardinals

Lions v 49ers

The 49ers want to close this season on a high note, as many decisions will need to be made with respect to their personal next season. Detroit is at times a feisty bunch, but more a bunch who can’t put it all together. My Pick: 49ers

Broncos v Eagles

The Eagles are playing very good football right now.  I expect the Broncos to be prepared and take this game down to the wire, but Philly should win. Westbrook is back in limited action today so the Eagles will be bolstered by his appearance.  Can anyone stop DeSean Jackson? Sure doesn’t seem like it. My Pick: Eagles

Jets v Colts

IF the Colts play their starter the majority of this game, of course I like the Colts to win.  Nobody outside of their locker room knows how much we will see Peyton, and the rest of the starters to play?  For now, I will pick the Jets to win. I think the Colts are focused on the bigger prize, winning it all and being healthy for the run.

Sunday Night Football

Cowboys v Redskins

The Cowboys showed up in a big way a week ago, knocking the Saints off their goal of finishing the season undefeated. Washington, on the other hand, turned in their worst performance of the season. With so much swirling around the Redskins, their players need to focus on what they can control, their play. I expect a tough game, certainly better that what the Skins gave us last week, but Romo and the Boys’ seem to have a grip on their December woes. I know they have only won one game this December, but they easily could have beaten the Chargers a few weeks ago. Rivalry games are always interesting, this should be no different. My Pick: Cowboys
