I’m not even going to touch the Favre/Childress drama, it will work itself out, or implode the Vikings. I believe things simmered down already. Clearly Favre, nor the Vikings need this kind of distraction. The real question for the Vikings, and their playoff future is simple. Will they remember Adrian Peterson tonight? Peterson must get back on track in order for the Vikings to seriously be considered as Super Bowl hopefuls, again. Peterson, and the Vikings defense, who for much of this season played very good football have stumbled lately. All of a sudden, there are cracks in the defense, and like Peterson, the Vikings defense must bounce back quickly.
Enter the Chicago Bears. The perfect team for the Vikings to bounce back against. The Bears are a mess, from the top to the bottom. Jay Cutler’s 1st season is Chicago has been a miserable experience. Sure Cutler is talented, but he lacks the discipline to cover up the Bears glaring deficiencies on offense. You can’t be a gambler, when the house doesn’t have any funds! Injuries on defense, and a lack of offensive explosiveness has crushed any hopes that this team would be competitive this season. After a brilliant rookie campaign, Matt Forte has been nonexistent most of this season. Lovie Smith is on the hot seat, and a poor performance tonight will do nothing to quiet the demand for change in Chicago. Stranger things have happened this season, even this week in the NFL, so of course the Bears have a shot. A very long, long shot. Minnesota must play well tonight to get back on pace, and build up leading to the playoffs. If they can’t handle the Bears tonight, the Minnesota, we have a problem. My Pick: Vikings.
