I will dispense with the suspense and say, Roll Tide! Now, why do I think Alabama will win? They are too physical upfront on both sides of the ball. Another factor, Saban. Yes, this is coming from a UTE. I think what happened last year in the Sugar Bowl will have been beaten into EVERY Bama player for a good three weeks prior to kick off. A poor performance tonight from Saban’s boys would certainly not bring a firing, but it would be another chink in the armor for Saban after last years crushing by UTAH (sorry, I had to). Of course it also helps to have Mark Ingram in the backfield, and Dan Cody on the defensive line.
How can Texas win? Well, shut down Bama’s rushing offense, and force McElroy into turning over the ball by clouding coverages. Texas defense is not exactly a slouch either, and will need to keep 8 in the box to match Alabama’s ground attack. Additionally, Colt McCoy has to have the game of his life to keep Bama’s offense off the field. McCoy is capable, but how effective he can be against an aggressive, physical, and explosive Alabama defense? I guess we will all see tonight. A great game from McCoy could also change a lot of minds about his NFL future. Performing well against a defense of Alabama’s caliber could really spring board McCoy’s draft stock.
So much on the line, for so many players, including of course, the National Championship. My Pick: Alabama
